SERVICES
Distin's Boatyard is set up for DIY boat repairs and maintenance. Contractors are welcome provided they register in advance.
The Boatyard is at the navigable limits of Old Mill Creek near Dartmouth. Tidal access and depth of water is limited due to the beach area being 3 metres above chart datum. As such, arrivals need to be timed at or near to high water springs, particulary for deeper yachts. However once in place the extended period of dry-out allows the ability to work on vessels on a firm beach avoiding the cost of lifting out.
Longer stays of two weeks or more give the chance during neaps to change or check sea cocks.
Access by Road
The Boatyard is less than 2 miles from Dartmouth town centre.
Caution… A steep 33% gradient hill with switchbacks makes access by HGV’s or long trailers inadvisable. The lane leading from the Dittisham Road is now in a very poor condition so not advisable.
BEACH BERTHS
We offer the old fashioned cheaper lay up solution on our foreshore suitable for flat bottomed craft or bilge keeled yachts that are able to dry out.
ELECTRICITY & WATER
Electricity and water are available to customers throughout the yard.
CRANAGE
We can offer lift outs onto a hard standing to facilitate short or longer term projects. Lift outs and pressure wash for vessels up to 5 tons are available throughout the year. Quick lifts to antifoul or longer stays available.
WASHING
Pressure washing below the waterline for boats being lifted is available.
TENDER RACKS
A toast rack for inflatables with the option of parking for customers who live further away is a useful way to alleviate the issues of finding a parking space in Dartmouth. Access by small tender is 3 hours each side of high water so customers coming from away need to time their arrivals and departures.
PONTOON BERTHS
Pontoon berths are available for shallow draft craft up to 6 metres. Access is restricted to approximately 3 hours each side of high water. Useful for beginners to boating who can explore the creek or further afield in a usually, sheltered and quiet setting.
HARD STANDING
We have a limited amount of hard standing available in our yard.
